Punjab Police on Wednesday booked a hotelier here for murdering his wife following a heated argument in a car.
Kulwant Kaur, aged over 60 years, died on the spot after being shot four times from close range by her husband, Nirankar Singh, 60.
The hotelier was arrested from the spot, located in front of the Manav Mangal Smart School in Phase 10 of Mohali.
He shot his wife with his licensed weapon, which has been recovered by police.
The couple were going to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research(PGIMER) in Chandigarh for Singh's heart check-up.
Singh owns the Sarao Hotel in Phase 10 at Mohali, 15 km from Chandigarh.
Police said Singh, who was settled in Britain, had moved to Mohali in 2004 along with his wife. The two children of the couple are settled in the UK.
