World football's governing body FIFA on Wednesday docked three points from Mohammedan Sporting Club's 2015-16 I-League second division tally for failure to pay the contracted remuneration to its player Samuel Shore.
Mohammedan topped the Eastern Conference group with 16 points from eight matches to advance to the final round of the division.
They began the final round with a 1-0 win against Gangtok Himalayan SC. But those three points will now be deducted.
Mohammedan were relegated from the I-League's top division in the 2013-14 season and they are yet to gain promotion.
"According to the decision taken by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, three (3) points have been deducted from Mohammedan Sporting Club's tally from the Second Division League 2015-16 season Final Round," a statement issued by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) said.
"This decision has been taken since Mohammedan Sporting Club failed to pay the contracted remuneration to the player, Samuel Shore."
