Brazilian Raffael will be out of action for the time being due to a torn hamstring, Bundesliga outfit Borussia Mönchengladbach confirmed in a statement on its homepage.
This was revealed by a medical examination by club doctor Stena Porten on Thursday. It means that Monchengladbach not only lost 1-2 to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League group stage, but they also lost their main playmaker, reports Xinhua.
As a result, the attacking midfielder, who provided 41 goals in 99 Bundesliga appearances for the German club since his arrival in 2013, will be sidelined for the time being. Raffael had to be replaced by Fabian Johnson against Barcelona, and was seen limping off the pitch after half time.
Fourth-placed Monchengladbach host Schalke at the closer of the sixth round of the German Bundesliga action on Sunday.
