Moscow too expensive: Capello

Moscow, June 5 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Russia's national football team coach Fabio Capello, who earns about 5 million euros per year, has complained about Moscow's exorbitant prices.

Since moving to the Russian capital nearly a year ago, things have been going just swimmingly for the 66-year-old Italian, who lives with his family in a lovely apartment near the Kremlin and probably is one of the highest paid coaches around.

Except for one small thing.

"You understand the only difference - the biggest difference - when you go shopping," Capello told the Russian Football Association's website, in a discussion about how Moscow compares with other sprawling cities.

"Shopping in Moscow is a very, very expensive pleasure." he said. "That's the truth."

Fine art connoisseur Capello, who lives on the doorstep of Moscow abundant museums, theaters and galleries, knows what he's talking about, having spent nearly a decade in Milan, one of Europe's top shopping destinations.

But the flip side for "the Don," as he is referred to by the Russian FA itself, is that the cuisine is nearly as good as that of his homeland.

"I like borscht very much," said Capello, referring to the beetroot soup staple of working-class Russians. "When I go to a Russian restaurant, I always order borscht, and my wife also likes it."

Capello signed a two-year contract with the Russian FA last summer and is unbeaten in eight games.
