A housewife in Narail district of Bangladesh Friday drowned her one-and-half-year-old son following conjugal discord, media reports said.
The incident took place in the early hours of Friday in Paikmari village of Sadar upazila, bdnews24.com reported citing police.
Jasim Qazi and Rikta Begum are the father and mother of victim Abdullah.
Sub-inspector Manik Chandra Saha said the couple were passing through a phase of marital discord for the last several days.
Rikta tried to flee after throwing Abdullah in a pond next to their house early in the morning but locals stopped her.
A neighbour later recovered the baby's body from the pond.
Police arrested the mother and took her into custody.
