Expressing concern over targeted killings in Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed on Wednesday directed security agencies to take all measures to maintain peace and tranquility.
Sayeed said all out measures should be taken to avoid recurrence of targeted killings in future.
The security agencies assured the chief minister that all out efforts will be made to apprehend those responsible behind the Sopore killings.
Police have blamed a breakaway faction of militant group Hizbul Mujahideen for the killings of former militants in north Kashmir's Sopore.
Chairing a meeting of the Unified Headquarters here, Sayeed discussed the entire gamut of security issues in the state.
Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Nirmal Singh, and senior police, military and intelligence officials also attended the meeting.
The chief minister was briefed on wide-ranging matters and the overall security scenario along the Line of Control and the International Border and the steps being taken to maintain peace in the state.
Besides, he reviewed the arrangements for the ensuing Amarnath Yatra.
Highlighting the priorities of the government, in particular good governance, transparency and corruption-free administration, Sayeed emphasised upon the security agencies to infuse a greater sense of security among people.
