Japanese IT major NEC Corporation on Wednesday announced the appointment of Takayuki Inaba as new managing director (MD) of its Indian subsidiary.

"Inaba will be responsible for leading and expanding our India's business offerings and will report to our Asia-Pacific chief executive Tetsuro Akagi," the company said in a statement here.

NEC had set up its India subsidiary in 2006 to strengthen and expand its IT and networking businesses in the local market.

Prior to this appointment, Inaba was the company's executive specialist at its global products and services division, before moving to marketing and new business creation division.

"I am honoured to assume the role of managing director at NEC India. I look forward to working with partners and supporting our team to strengthen its position as one of the leading providers of innovative technologies and solutions that contribute to the safety and security of India and its communities," said Inaba in the statement.

Koichiro Koide, who led the company's Indian operations since March 2014, will be the new general manager of NEC's greater China and Asia Pacific division.

Leveraging its capabilities to integrate IT and networking technologies for diverse customers spawning governments, businesses, individuals and societies, the company customises solutions to construct large-scale, scalable and flexible IT and network systems, including security and surveillance systems, carrier network, IP telephony solutions, retail solutions and private network solutions.
