The NIA on Wednesday registered a case in connection with the November 29 terror attack on an army base in Nagrota in Jammu and Kashmir, in which seven Indian soldiers, including two officers, were killed.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) registered the case at its police station in Delhi following instructions from the Union Home Ministry.

The case has been filed for offences under Sections 120B, 121, 307 of the Ranbir Penal Code or RPC and Sections 7, 27 of the Arms Act, 1958.

The case was earlier filed at the Nagrota police station against unidentified terrorists, who had entered the army camp near the Baleeni Bridge, some 15 km from Jammu city.

"The case at the Nagrota police station was registered on the basis of information received at the police station that on November 29, some heavily armed unknown terrorists, on the directions of their foreign handlers, had entered the Army Camp at Nagrota, near the Baleeni Bridge, and started indiscriminate firing on the army personnel with the intention to kill them," the NIA said in a statement.

A team of NIA officers will visit the crime scene and start the investigation. It will also place the FIR before the NIA Special Court in Jammu.

Seven army personnel, including two officers, were killed in Nagrota after suicide bombers armed with guns and grenades stormed the military base near Jammu.

Three attackers were also gunned down on the base campus, while three other militants died in a shootout with security forces near the International Border with Pakistan.

It was the highest casualty the Indian Army suffered in a single terror attack after the September 18 killing of 19 soldiers at a military base in the Uri border town in the Kashmir Valley.

Parliament too witnessed disruptions as an aggressive opposition raised demands for obituary reference for the army personnel killed in the Nagrota attack.
