Launching a scathing attack on the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday said that it has done no welfare work and has only been trying to give lies to the people and victimize political opponents.
"They have just been selling pipe dreams and inaugurating projects and schemes that were rolled out by the Samajwadi Party government," said the former Chief Minister at a press conference here.
Daring the government to tell any one work done by them in one year of which they can do the inauguration, he also alleged that efforts were made to taint his image by launching a bevy of probes into developmental works done by his government. However they found no irregularities, he added.
"In the morning ministers of this government would go out and by evening come back to tell that everything was wrong in the previous government and that action will be taken. Let them tell now, after passage of a year on what evidence and proof have they discovered against us," he said.
India's longest elevated road that Adityanath inaugurated in Ghaziabad on Friday was also initiated by his government, Akhilesh Yadav said, also going on to question the charges of dynastic rule in the SP, leveled by the Chief Minister.
"Which Yadav lane exists in this elevated road, the Chief Minister and leader of the ruling party must tell," he said.
He also charged the BJP government of unleashing political vendetta of senior SP leader and former minister Mohd Azam Khan, who is now facing several charges including forcible occupation of land belonging to Dalits and recruitment scam in the Jal Nigam.
