The Gurgaon district registrar for firms and societies has issued notice to the president and secretary of Haryana Football Association (HFA) to declare null and void the governing body's election, held on January 23 in Rohtak, an official said on Friday.

The notice was issued on a complaint filed by advocate Lalit Chaudhary from Ambala Cantonment claiming that the society did not follow the bye-laws and provisions of the Haryana Registration and Regulation Act 2012.

The registrar has directed both top post holders to appear before him in the office for their comments with necessary original documents on February 22.

The HFA office is located in Gurgaon's Tau Devi Lal Stadium in sector 38.

Congress leader and former Haryana chief parliamentary secretary Rao Dan Singh was elected HFA president amid strong opposition by ruling BJP supporters.

The Singh camp claimed that he was unanimously elected president of the association during the meeting of the state football body.

An office-bearer of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) was election observer and one returning officer had been specially appointed for the event.

BJP MLA from Rohtak Munish Grover, who was also present during the HFA election meeting, alleged that Singh and his supporters manipulated the voters' list.
