One woman was killed and six people were injured when a cooking gas cylinder exploded Sunday morning in a house in Shanti Nagar area here.
At least 11 people were rescued from the debris of the two-storeyed house that collapsed following the blast.
The fire brigade reached the spot within minutes to carry out rescue operations. Police said the condition of three of the injured was serious.
Police said construction was going on in the second floor of the house. The woman was cooking food when the cylinder exploded, killing her on the spot and bringing down the entire structure.
More than a dozen workers and residents were buried under the debris. Neighbours and rescue workers pulled them out to safety.
