One Direction prefer being on the tour bus to staying in hotel rooms because they get lonely.

The band, made up of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, spend months away from their families and friends because of their busy touring schedule and hate being alone in their hotel rooms, reports contactmusic.com.

"The tour bus is a little escape, that little back lounge we sit in. Hotel rooms can often be lonely. It's just an easier way to deal with it all," said Tomlinson.

Payne added that being away from home is a "huge downside of touring" and that he misses his family and friends.
