Over a dozen personnel of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) were injured in a road mishap in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday
The security personnel were going from Varanasi to Kushinagar for duty at an event to be attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, police said.
The driver of the bus they were travelling in lost control and it hit a tree on the Barhaj-Sonughat road after the brakes failed. The injured belonged to the 36th platoon of the PAC.
The injured have been identified as Dilip Thakur, Ram Sharan, Jitendra Kumar, Munni Lal, Naseeruddin, Lalbath, Rajesh Kumar Pandey, Jagdal Ram, driver Rajesh Kumar, Paras Yadav, Heera Lal Sharma and Sanjay Singh.
The condition of head constable Abdul Jaleel Khan is stated to be serious as he sustained head injuries.
