Panel on women safety to come up in Delhi

A committee to look into issue of women's safety and security will be set up soon, Delhi Commission for Women Chief Swati Maliwal said on Friday after meeting Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung.

A meeting for this purpose will be held on November 3 or 4, she said, according to an official release.

The committee will comprise the lt. governor, DCW chairperson, police commissioner, Delhi home secretary and women development cell secretary and will review the existing women safety measures and meet twice a month, it added.

Maliwal also informed Jung that there are 1,500 vacancies in Delhi Police that need to be filled.
