Mahmood Farooqui, co-director of Bollywood film "Peepli Live" who is facing trial for the alleged rape of an American woman, on Wednesday sought interim bail.
Farooqui is in judicial custody since June 20.
Farooqui told Additional Sessions Judge Sanjiv Jain that his father was suffering from bleeding haemorrhoids and had not fully recovered from a paralytic stroke.
In his interim bail application, he stated that all the public witnesses had been examined and there was no threat to the victim or any witness.
The court asked Delhi Police to file a response on Thursday.
Delhi Police have accused Farooqui of raping a 35-year-old American who was pursuing PhD from Columbia University and was in India for research.
