Pepsi MTV Indies kick off 'SPIRO' with 'The INDIE AwkWARDS'

TV Channel Pepsi MTV Indies will give a headstar to a four-day indie experience 'SPIRO' through a spoof award show - 'The INDIE AwkWARDS' on Wednesday.

According to a statement from the channel, "the evening promises to be a fun take on the Indie scene, and a mock awards show that takes a good humoured dig at everything and everyone who make it".

Artistes such Vishal Dadlani, Yo Yo Honey Singh and Monica Dogra have been nominated for multiple awards in the Indie AwkWARDS, which is touted as "India's only officially rigged awards".

Pepsi MTV Indies that launched in February last year, is said to be reaching about 25 million homes and 10 million weekly viewers across the country through its TV channel, and has also launched a specially designed app and website that facilitates music discovery.

'SPIRO - An MTV Indies Takeover' promises to be an indie experience like never before where fans will now get to celebrate the world of subcultures through music, comedy and cinema.

Hosted by Jose Covaco and Varun Thakur, the award will feature music performances by indie bands that include Bombay Black, Split, Blek and 2Sensitive who are coming together just to celebrate the indie spirit.
