Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo has been named the best player in Serie A for the third consecutive year by the Association of Italian Footballers.

"It's always a pleasure to win this award, it means I managed to stay at the top year after year," Xinhua quoted the 35-year-old Italy playmaker as saying.

Six of Pirlo's Juventus teammates joined him in the Serie A Best Team 2014, namely Gianluigi Buffon, Andrea Barzagli, Kwadwo Asamoah, Paul Pogba, Arturo Vidal and Carlos Tevez.
