Former Speaker of the Goa legislative assembly and BJP MLA Pramod Sawant will be sworn in as the 11th Chief Minister of Goa, Sawant himself confirmed on Tuesday.
"I am going for swearing in at the Raj Bhavan right now," Sawant told reporters, as he was heading for Raj Bhavan from a city resort, where BJP's Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was conducting negotiations for nearly 24 hours with MLAs from regional parties and other independent MLAs in a bid to form a coalition government.
Sawant, 45, succeeds former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who died on Sunday due to complications arising from advanced pancreatic cancer.
