President Pranab Mukherjee has taken the initiative to develop five villages in Haryana, including four in Gurgaon and one in Mewat district, as model villages.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar met the President in New Delhi on Thursday and handed over the list of five villages.
The President had earlier desired to develop these villages as model villages.
"With the assistance of the Rashtrapati Bhawan, the state government will pool resources to make these smart villages to set an example for development of other villages in the state," an official spokesman said.
