Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi announced that his party has agreed to resume talks for the continuation of democracy, media reported Wednesday.
Speaking to the journalists following a late night meeting Tuesday with negotiators, Qureshi said the negotiating teams will meet again at former interior minister Rehman Malik's residence at 4 p.m. Wednesday and will continue from where they had left off, Geo News reported.
The opposition negotiating committee, which is led by Jamat-e-Islami (JI) chief Siraj-ul Haq, said they will continue negotiations until a logical conclusion is reached.
Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Malik thanked Imran Khan for initiating talks and condemned the use of force against the PTI activists.
He added that the government should not view the return of the protesting parties to the negotiating table as a sign of weakness.
The opposition negotiating committee also includes Malik, Deputy Leader of National assembly Liaquat Baloch, Member of National assembly Ghazi Gullab Jamal, Punjab assembly member Mian Aslam and Senators Kulsoom Parveen and Hasil Bizenjo.
The teams held meetings with PTI chief Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahir-ul Qadri Tuesday night which they termed positive but added that a lot of work had to be done to end the deadlock.
