Relics of the tenth Sikh Guru, Gobind Singh, will be taken around Punjab in a special religious procession next month to enable people have a close look at them and offer their respects, a senior functionary of the Punjab government said here on Tuesday.
"These rare, sacred and historical relics would be taken around the state in a special religious procession from May 6 to 20 in an event to be organised jointly by the Punjab government and the SGPC (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee)," Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's Advisor on National Affairs and Media Harcharan Bains said on Tuesday.
The procession will start at Patiala on May 6 and culminate at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib in Anandpur Sahib town May 20.
The holy relics of Guru Gobind Singh would include three swords, a set of hair with comb, a turban, a chola (robe), a whip, a bunch of five arrows, a siri sahib (small three inch kirpan), a spear (wood), a small plain steel spear, a big sword and a sword with the word 'Sat Sri Akal Guru Teg Bahadur' the 1713 Samvat (1656) inscribed on the blade.
"Of particular interest to the devotees and scholars would be a manuscript written in Guru Gobind Singh ji's own hand," Bains said.
