Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore on his 154th birth anniversary.
"As we celebrate Rabindra Jayanti this 25 Baishakh, we pay tribute to one of India's greatest icons," Gandhi said in a message.
"A poet, a thinker and a leader, with his words and the power of his imagination, Gurudev touched the lives of millions across the world," he added.
The bard's influence, Gandhi noted, on Indian music, art, literature, education and culture is unparalleled.
"He was the pride and inspiration of a nation in the making. Gurudev will be remembered as a voice whose influence transcends time and geography," he added.
