Intermittent drizzle and strong winds overnight brought welcome relief to Bhopal and other places in Madhya Pradesh which had been reeling under blistering heat wave conditions, the Met office here said on Thursday promising further rain accompanied by thunder in the next 24 hours.
The weather office, however, said others areas in the central Indian state will continue to face the intense heat wave.
On Wednesday, Bhopal experienced a maximum temperature of 42.3 degrees Celsius, Indore recorded 41.4 degrees, Gwalior recorded 43.7 degrees and Jabalpur witnessed 44.1 degrees.
Tourist hub Khajuraho reeled under a maximum temperature of 46 degrees Celsius -- and so did Gwalior and Datia.
On Thursday, Bhopal recorded a minimum temperature of 30.3 degrees Celsius while Indore registered 26.6 degrees and Gwalior 26.6 degrees. Jabalpur witnessed 28 degrees Celsius.
