They said Rajnath Singh, accompanied by party vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, met Chautala at the Ram Manohar Hospital here.

The leaders of two parties are learnt to have discussed current political developments during the meeting which lasted nearly an hour.

Chautala, who heads the Indian National Lok Dal, has been jailed for 10 years for irregularities in appointment of teachers in 2000. He is in the hospital in connection with medical problems.

BJP sources said there was a possibility of INLD and BJP forming an alliance for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Assembly elections are also due in Haryana in 2014.

BJP is, at present, in alliance with Haryana Janhit Congress-BL in Haryana. INLD leaders said there was possibility of alliance with BJP if it ends its existing alliance.

National Democratic Alliance (NDA) convenor Sharad Yadav had met Chautala a few days back.

A trial court here had sentenced Chautala, his son Ajay Chautala and eight others to 10 years in jail. The Delhi High Court had Thursday ordered constitution of a medical board to examine the health of Chautala.
