"Raktdhar", a film produced by Dhananjay Dhawan Patil and directed by Ajit Verma, aims to bring about awareness and help solve problems for the transgender community.

Featuring Shakti Kapoor, Mukesh Rishi, Shahbaaz Khan, Ehsaan Khan, Deepsikha Naagpal, Manish Khanna and Archita Banerjee, the film's trailer was launched here in the presence of Maharashtra Women's Commission Chairperson Chitra Wagh.

Wagh extended supported the film and its cause, and said in a statement: "There are laws written to help and support (the trangenders) by the government but there isn't anything actually happening for them. 'Raktdhar' will create awareness and help solve problem for transgender community."

"This film is based on an issue which nobody talks about, the challenges transgender's face in our society are put forward through this film. Even today in the modern world, in our country they face so many problems and to voice those problems this film has been made. They are a part of our society and have the right to live their life peacefully.

"We have to listen to what they have to say and we will have to help them solve these problems," Wagh added.

Patil praised Shakti Kapoor's work in the film.

"Shaktiji has done a fabulous job. He has never done anything like his current character in 'Raktdhar'. It was amazing to see him play the role. The film's main base is about the death of his (onscreen) friend the awful treatment they are given by the officials."

Of the film, Patil said: "It will bring forth the truth and problems related to the transgender people. The film talks about their lives and daily humiliation they have to face. The story revolves around Shakti Kapoor's character and his transgender friend being raped and dishonoured to death (literally).

"The film will show what happens when a transgender has to visit a hospital or even when they die. When they don't receive justice Shakti takes the matter into his hands and enters politics. The film has an action climax in which connects all the strings."

"Raktdhar" is jointly produced by Patil and Rajan Gupta under the banner Chitra Films. It is slated to release on October 6.
