Indian golfers Jyoti Randhawa and Rahil Gangjee finished tied 42nd and joint 59th, respectively, while Englishman Lee Slattery won the title after the fourth and final round of the one million euros ($1.12 million) Russian Open here on Sunday.
Randhawa dropped 15 places after scoring three-over 74 in the final round for a 72-hole total of one-under 283 ((68-73-68-74), while Gangjee moved down two places following an even-over 71 that took his four-day total to two-over 286 (68-73-74-71) at the Kolkovo Golf Club.
Former Asian Tour champion Randhawa could not have got a better start as he got an eagle on the par-five third hole. But the 43-year-old failed to continue the momentum as the eight-time winner in Asia bogeyed three of the final four holes in the front nine.
Another bogey on the 12th was followed by a double-bogey on the par-four 14th, made it a bad round for the Delhi golfer. The world No.413 then got a birdie on the 17th but it was too late and he finally settled for a 74.
Gangjee, who got a 74 on Saturday, improved his performance on the final day. The world No.458 got birdies on the fourth, sixth, 10th, 14th and 16th but bogeys on the fifth and 12th halted his progress.
However, life changed for the 36-year-old for the worse on the par-four 15th hole which he took seven attempts to clear, forcing the Delhi golfer to squander all the good work.
Meanwhile Slattery registered a one-shot victory over Argentine Estanislao Goya. The Englishman carded two-under 69 in the final round for a four-day total of 15-under 269 (66-67-67-69), while Goya got a three-under 68.
Another Englishman, David Horsey finished third on 13-under 271, while four golfers shared the fourth spot on 272.
