Record European football champions Real Madrid have announced that Brazilian defender Danilo has suffered "a plantar fasciitis tear in his right foot".
"Following tests carried out on Danilo today (Thursday) in the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, the player has been diagnosed with a plantar fasciitis tear in his right foot," Real said in a statement.
Although Real indicated only that the recovery period would depend on the Brazilian's response to treatment, the defender could be out for a month, and will miss La Liga games against Espanyol and Atletico Madrid on September 12 and October 4, respectively, Efe reported.
The 24-year-old was injured in a friendly of his national team against Costa Rica on September 5 in New Jersey, but he played for the full 90 minutes, while he was a substitute during the next match against the US.
