A civil rights group has decided to file a complaint to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) against the NIA for using a child in its effort to find out IEDs during its probe into the Oct 2 Burdwan blast.
"Using a child for such a dangerous job is highly illegal and is a serious violation of human rights as well as of child rights," Association for Protection of Democratic Rights secretary Ranjit Sur said in a statement.
Sur said a copy of the complaint will also be sent to the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCB).
A section of the media showed a child around 8-10 years of age to have climbed a top a shelf in a house from where the improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were seized.
Condemning the "act" of the National investigation Agency (NIA), Sur said: "Such an inhuman act should not be repeated."
"We will demand exemplary punishment for the people involved in our complaint to the NHRC and the NCPCR."
