A total of 19,000 Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have pledged to donate their organs, said Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs on Friday.

Calling the paramilitary force a trend-setter, Rijiju said that due to such good initiatives by BSF, misconceptions about organ donation will be alleviated.

"The number of organ donor pledge takers from the BSF has risen sharply from 1,100 to more than 19,000 now," said Rijiju at a event to mark the International Organ Donation Day-2017, organised by the BSF.
