Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Saturday visited the landslide-hit area near Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh which claimed at least 16 lives.
"Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju along with Tawang Brigade Commander Brig D.S. Kushwaha visited the landslide affected area in Tawang," said a statement from the home ministry.
A massive landslide struck a civil labour camp in Phamla village near Tawang at 3 a.m. on April 22, killing 16 labourers.
According to the ministry, the Tawang Brigade deployed in the vicinity was the first responders to the crisis and was immediately pressed into action with four quick reaction teams and one medical team for humanitarian assistance and rescue operations.
