Royal Challengers set 175-run target for Kings XI

Chris Gayle struck a 53-ball 77 and skipper Virat Kohli smashed 57 off 43 balls as Royal Challengers Bangalore piled up a huge 174 for five in 20 overs against Kings XI Punjab in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here Tuesday.

Royal Challengers were 52 after ten overs. But then Gayle and Kohli blasted off the Kings XI bowlers and plundered 123 runs off the last ten overs.

Gayle and Kohli added 136-run stand for the second wicket that took Royal Challengers to a position of strength. Gayle smashed six sixes and four fours in his 53-ball innings while Kohli struck six fours and two sixes during his whirlwind knock.

Pacer Parvinder Awana picked up three for 39 while veteran Azhar Mahmood got two for 24.
