The RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group's first thermal power unit (300 MW) outside West Bengal has been successfully synchronised at Chandrapur, Maharashtra, the company said Tuesday.
The first of the two 300 MW units - located at MIDC Growth Centre, Tadali of Chandrapur District - was synchronised Monday, said chairman Sanjiv Goenka.
"Work is on in full swing for the second unit. The project is being executed by Dhariwal Infrastructure Limited (DIL), a 100 percent subsidiary of CESC Infrastructure Limited," said Goenka.
According to CESC sources, for power evacuation from Chandrapur, work on the 400 KVA transmission line has already been completed. The line for connecting the power station to the national network is under construction and is expected to be ready soon.
Currently, CESC owns and operates four thermal power plants generating 1,225 MW of power in West Bengal.
Another 2x300 MW coal fired thermal power plant is under construction at Haldia in West Bengal's east Midnapore district. The project is being executed by Haldia Energy Limited (HEL), another 100 percent CESC subsidiary.
