Leaders of the Rashtiya Swayamsevak Sangh and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) visited the RSS office in Dadar where his body was kept and paid their last respects.

A former LIC agent and banker, Joshi gave up his job to join the RSS. He served its Nanded branch before being posted to Assam.

Later, for nearly two decades, he served as private secretary to the third RSS chief, the late Balasaheb Deoras.

He was the national convener of Hindustan Samachar, a multi-lingual news agency.
