Russian Formula One driver Daniil Kvyat will return to the Toro Rosso team for the 2019 F1 season, the team announced Saturday.
Kvyat, who was already a Toro Rosso driver in 2014 and then between the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix and the 2017 United States Grand Prix, will replace Frenchman Pierre Gasly, who moves over to Red Bull, reports Efe.
"First of all, I would like to thank Red Bull and Toro Rosso for giving me this opportunity to race in Formula 1 again and I am particularly pleased to be returning to a team I know very well," the 24-year-old driver said.
Kvyat also thanked Ferrari for its trust, allowing him to "stay connected to F1 as their development driver."
"Even if my duties were primarily simulator based, I've learned a lot, and I now feel stronger and better prepared than when I left Toro Rosso," Kvyat added.
