Top Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal has the chance of putting another feather in her hat as the 25-year-old has been nominated for the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Women's Player of the Year award.
The Hyderabadi has to contend with reigning World Champion Carolina Marin of Spain, last year's winner Zhao Yunlei and Bao Yixin - both of whom hail from China and play in doubles.
Saina became India's first World No.1 in women's singles and enjoyed a consistent run this season, winning her home Superseries -- India Open -- in New Delhi and also reaching the finals of the World Championships, All-England and China Open.
She started the year with a victory at the India Grand Prix Gold in Lucknow.
The winners will be announced at the Players' Reception and Gala Dinner for the World Superseries Finals on December 7 at Al Badia Golf Club in Dubai.
