Former chief justice of India M.N. Venkatachaliah Saturday expressed concern over the people's growing loss of faith in society and called for following the ideals of nationalist leader Sarat Chandra Bose.
Venkatachaliah, along with Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Ram Lal participated in an event to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Bose, organised by the Sarat Bose Academy here.
"When nuclear interaction attains critical mass it produces a chain reaction. Similarly, when people start losing faith in justice of the society, justice of their governance, there is a negative social critical mass which is destructive," Venkatachaliah said in his address.
"Today's society has become callous and unjust and one of the cures of this pessimism emancipating from this society is to follow the ideals of Sarat Bose," he added.
On the occasion, BJP leader Gupta spoke about Bose's vision of having enhanced cooperation between south Asian countries.
"Today, when under the leadership of the prime minister, India is working on strengthening its ties with the SAARC countries, decades ago Sarat Bose had called for cooperation among the south Asian countries. Such was his vision. I don't know if our prime minister is inspired by him, but Sarat Bose's ideals and beliefs continue to be relevant," he said.
