Actor Sarwar Ahuja will be joining the cast of "Diya Aur Baati Hum" as a police inspector. He says despite being a cameo, his appearance in the TV show is "crucial" as it will join bits and pieces of a murder case.

The actor, who was seen in a Punjabi movie called "Patiala Dreamz" in 2014, will be essaying the role of a police inspector on the Star Plus show. His character will be seen entering the show to solve the mysterious murder of a character named Mohit (played by Varun Jain).

"I am entering the show at an extremely crucial point. The track has a lot of mystery attached to it and I am really looking forward to connecting the dotted lines bit by bit. My character is that of a police inspector named Satyadev, who will be appointed along with a female protagonist to solve Mohit's murder case," Sarwar said in a statement.

Sarwar, known for his role in popular series "Punar Vivah", has already started shooting and will be introduced in an episode which will be aired on Thursday.

Last timed with Diwali, "Diya Aur Baati Hum" logged 1,200 episodes and Sarwar can't be more happy to be a part of the series after it registered the benchmark.

He said: "Though a cameo, I am really excited for this show. I'm really looking forward to it."
