A teenage boy allegedly committed suicide on Saturday after being scolded by his father in West Bengal's Nadia district, police said.
"Buddha Sarkar, a student of class eight in Cooper's Camp in Nadia district allegedly hung himself. His body was recovered from his bedroom on Saturday morning," a police officer said.
According to the family members, the boy was scolded by his father on Friday for losing a silver chain and a bicycle.
"It seems the boy has resorted to the act out of humiliation," the police officer said.
"The body has been sent for autopsy. We are also questioning the father and the rest of the family members to check if there were any other reasons for him to commit suicide," the officer added.
