A second group of Iraqi Kurdish fighters arrived in Turkey's Sanliurfa province near Syrian border, a media report said Tuesday.

The second group, which came from northern Iraq, arrived at the Sanliurfa airport and headed for Suruc town of Sanliurfa in a bid to move to the Kurdish-populated Syrian city of Ayn al-Arab, also know as Kobane, Xinhua reported citing Dogan news agency.

They will replace the first group in fight against the Islamic State (IS) militants in northern Syria, according to the report.

The Turkish armed forces confirmed that 150 Kurdish Iraqi fighters combating Islamist jihadists in Ayn al-Arab will be replaced with the new group that will also use Turkish soil to travel to the northern Syrian town.

They added the first group that will return to northern Iraq by passing through Turkey.

In an interview with Turkey's Daily Hurriyet published last Tuesday, Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government Chief of Staff Fuad Hussein said that along with training Iraqi Kurdish fighters, Turkey has also provided weapons to them.

Turkish army has trained 230 Iraqi Kurdish fighters so far in northern Iraq.

Some 150 Iraqi Kurdish fighters, sent by the Kurdish regional government in Iraq, crossed into Syria through Turkish border in September to help the Syrian Kurds in their fight against the IS militants.
