A Shanghai skyscraper ranked among the tallest in the world inaugurated a vertiginous glass walkway outside the building for visitors on Friday.
Jinmao Tower opened the 1.2 metres wide glass path without railings on the exterior of the 88th floor, 340 metres above the street, in an effort to attract more tourists, EFE news reported.
Jinmao Tower used to be the tallest building in the city at 420 metres, but was soon dwarfed by the Shanghai Financial World Centre (494 metres) and the Shanghai Tower (632 metres).
Visitors at the Jinmao Tower will be provided with the necessary security equipment before they step out onto the glass platform and will be accompanied by staff.
According to authorities, the walkway is not recommended for those with cardiac issues or vertigo.
