Actor Shardul Pandit, best known for his roles in shows like "Kitani Mohobbat Hai 2" and "May I Come in Madam?", has been roped in to play a Gujarati character named Devang in the upcoming socio-thriller TV show "Kuldeepak".

Shardul will be paired with Keerti Nagpure in the show.

"I think I have a connection with Gujarat because I keep getting roles in shows that are set against the backdrop. Having said that, this show is very special to me because I bagged this role on my mother's birthday," Shardul said in a statement.

"More importantly, it is my first positive lead. And the show will also highlight the relationship between a mother and her son. I will be seen as a young father on screen and was nervous to hold a little baby and perform scenes, but I am super excited and glad that my co-actress is so supportive," he added.

"Kuldeepak", which will be aired on &TV starting from March 27, will trace the struggle of a young mother who wants to protect her child against negativity.

Ankit Gera learns martial arts for 'Agnifera'

Actor Ankit Gera is learning martial arts and following a strict diet to flaunt a leaner look in his new TV show "Agnifera".

Ankit has already shed 10 kg in the process for his role of Anurag who is an MBA-return from London.

"To look younger on screen can be quite a taxing job. I had to undergo a weight loss regime and so, I decided to do it through martial arts. I always wanted to learn it, and I thought it would be the best way to lose weight as well," Ankit said in a statement.

"I have been training for over four months and also ensuring I have a balanced diet along with sleep, so my body gets what it requires. I hope the audience likes me in my new look," he added.

Set against the backdrop of Bihar, the show is a quirky family drama of two unconventional brides and one helpless groom entangled in an unusual dilemma.

Also featuring Yukti Kapoor and Simran Kaur, the show will be aired on &TV starting from Monday.

Rukhsar Rehman set for 'Savdhaan India'

Actress Rukhsar Rehman, who rose to fame with shows like "Dream Girl", "Tumhari Pakhi" and Bollywood movies like "PK", will be seen playing a mother in "Savdhaan India".

She says this is the first time she is playing such a character.

"Yes, this is the first time I am playing the role of a mother," Rukhsar said in a statement.

According to a source from the team of the Life OK show, the actress will be seen playing the role of Sheela, a mother of two young daughters. In the show, Sheela will be seen as a widow, who has given part of her house on rent to a man and later falls in love with him.

"If the role is substantial and important to the show, I have no problem in playing the role of a mother to grownups," she added.

The story is a murder mystery where Sheela will be found dead and the episode will show how the family will trace out the criminal to secure justice.

"Many actors were considered for the role. However, because of her soft looks and innocent face, Rukhsar was finalised for the episode," said the source.
