Model-turned-actress Brooke Shields opens up about her reconciliation with Tom Cruise, calling the actor's apology "genuine" after he slammed her for using medication to treat postpartum depression.
Cruise criticised Shields in 2005, when he stated in numerous interviews that Shields was being "irresponsible" for using psychotropic drugs after she became a mother.
During an interview with Access Hollywood, Shields said that Cruise later apologised for his remarks, reports contactmusic.com.
"He did reach out (to me) and I told him, 'Why don't you come here (to my house)' - it was my home turf. But I wasn't mad at him because he did himself in.
"I knew what he was trying to do, he just went about it the wrong way. And I said that to him. I said: 'Look, forget who believes what or whatever, you had a point to make and you barked up the wrong tree'," she said.
The 49-year-old added: "That's what I wanted to say, like, 'You don't have ovaries, so don't be making a comment like this - it's not going to help with the people.' And he's like, 'I know. I don't know why I attacked you...
"Your mum was the one who took care of me on the set of (1981 film) 'Endless Love', and I'll never forget that'... It was just genuine of him".
