A two-day Korea festival showcasing the art, culture and heritage of the peninsular region is being held in Gurugram in November to celebrate the history of India-South Korea ties.

The November 25-26 gala at The Leela Ambience Hotel and Residences in Gurugram will be organised by the Korea Tourism Organisation.

"The festival is...to acquaint Indian tourists with famous South Korean tourist destinations, delicacies, local culture and the country's legacy," a spokesperson of the Korea Tourism Organisation said in a statement.

The festival will have food counters to give a taste of the local Korean flavours to serve Indian taste buds and will also feature attractions like face and mask painting, hangeul calligraphy, video gallery displaying Korean history and cultural assets.

Live stage performances by Korean pop groups and non-verbal artists are also on the list of attractions at the extravaganza to popularise South Korea as a favourite destination of Indian travellers.

"The bilateral relationship between India and South Korea is based on a long history of friendship and it has grown in various aspects. There needs to be mutual understanding of each other's legacy, history and culture. Such festivals help in a great way to fortify and deepen the understanding," Director Korea Tourism organisation Jong Sool Kwon said.

Some 200,000 Indians visited South Korea in 2016 and the number is growing at an average rate of 10-15 per cent year on year, according to the statement.
