Barely a fortnight after a section of an under-construction flyover here collapsed killing 16 persons, a part of the shuttering of another flyover fell on the road below on Friday, but no one was injured as there was no traffic passing, police said.
The incident happened near the Tarna Chamav gate on a flyover connecting the city to the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport. Officials said work was underway at the flyover when cement and concrete was poured but the shuttering caved in.
An official told IANS that possibly a bolt in the shuttering was loose.
District Magistrate Yogeshwar Ram Mishra has ordered Additional District Magistrate, City, Virendra Pandey to investigate the incident.
Varanasi is the Parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
