Singapore navy chief Rear Admiral Ng Chee Peng Tuesday met his Indian counterpart Admiral R.K. Dhowan, the defence ministry said.
"The visit of the Singapore naval chief is expected to intensify the cooperation between both navies and strengthen historical ties," said a ministry statement.
Peng, who was welcomed with a guard of honour at the South Block lawns, would also meet Army chief Gen. Bikram Singh, Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha and the defence secretary.
The two navy chiefs discussed cooperation between both navies as well as regional maritime security.
Singapore has a defence cooperation agreement and a comprehensive economic cooperation agreement with India. The year 2014-15 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Singapore.
Peng also paid homage to martyred Indian soldiers at the Amar Jawan Jyoti in the capital.
