Six people were killed in Colombia when an ambulance aircraft crashed near Villavicencio's Vanguardia airport in the central Meta department, authorities here confirmed Wednesday.
The Meta Civil Aeronautics authority confirmed that the airplane, belonging to the company 'Aereas de Colombia', crashed around 06.30 local time (11:30 GMT) en route from Bogota's El Dorado airport to Solano municipality in the southwestern Caqueta department, Xinhua quoted Colombian media as reporting.
Residents, in the area where the ambulance airplane crashed, were quoted as saying that the plane had caught fire before it collapsed.
Authorities were investigating into the accident.
