Spain's Feliciano Lopez reached the quarter-finals of the Stuttgart Open tennis on Thursday and is set to play Czech Tomas Berdych.

The 35-year-old Spaniard needed one hour and 34 minutes to beat World No. 80 Jeremy Chardy 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, reports Efe.

Third-seeded Berdych defeated Australian Bernard Tomic 7-6 (4), 6-2 in 76 minutes.

Lopez played against Berdych 10 years ago in the same tournament, when the Spaniard won 6-0, 6-3.
