English football club Sunderland have signed American striker Jozy Altidore on a four-year deal worth 6 million pounds.
Altidore joined Sunderland Tuesday from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar and is manager Paolo Di Canio's sixth summer signing.
"Sunderland AFC have confirmed the signing of US striker Jozy Altidore from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar," read a statement on Sunderland's official website.
The burly striker started his career with Major League Soccer (MLS) side New York Red Bulls before joining Spanish club Villarreal in 2008.
Altidore has also scored 17 goals in 60 appearances for his country after making his senior debut in 2007.
