A Tamil group on Thursday denounced online shopping portal Amazon for keeping out the people of Tamil Nadu from its 'Win one kilo gold contest".
Tamizhaga Vashvurimai Katchi founder T. Velmurugan asked the people of Tamil Nadu not to fall prey to Amazon's "cheating tactics".
"Amazon has advertised in newspapers in Tamil Nadu stating that customers who shop on its portal between October 13 and 17 can get the opportunity to win one kilo gold," Velmurugan said.
He said while the company had said on its website that residents of Tamil Nadu were not eligible to take part in the event, this was not mentioned in the newspaper advertisements.
He urged the Tamil Nadu government to act against the company.
The company has not said why it has excluded residents of Tamil Nadu from the contest.
