Oscar winning director Quentin Tarantinos next film will explore the Manson family murders which occurred on August 8, 1969.
Tarantino has already written the script and is soon planning to start direction, reports variety.com.
The tragedy occurred when Charles Manson -- an unemployed convict and failed musician -- ordered his followers to attack guests at a house in Los Angeles' Benedict Canyon.
The followers brutally murdered everyone at the home, including actress Sharon Tate, who was eight months pregnant then.
The focus of the film is unclear at this time. It's unknown whether the film will be a historical retelling about the events that occurred or if the crime is used as a backdrop for separate, intertwining stories.
Tarantino is expected to get in A-list actors.
